Student of Month
  • This year, Hackettstown High School will participate in the district-wide initiative to honor a student for each month of the school year.  The Student of the Month celebrates eligible seniors who meet specific criteria and demonstrate the following characteristics over the course of their years at HHS:

    • Outstanding grades
    • Marked improvement in grades
    • Exemplary attendance
    • Cooperation
    • Leadership
    • Overall achievement
    • Consideration to others
    • Academic curiosity
    • Outstanding attitude/School spirit
    • Community involvement/service

Each month HHS faculty submit their nominations according to the criteria above, and all nominations are reviewed by representative committee comprised of a HHS teacher, administrator, and counselor. Student of the Month award recipients are notified in person by Mr. Scanlon, invited with their families to be honored at the next Board of Education meeting, and announced to the school via loudspeaker.

In addition to being Honored by the Board of Education during a public session, the Student of the Month Recipient will receive a Certificate of Commendation and have their name posted on the HHS marquee.   Their name and bio will also be posted on the school website and in published editions of the school newspaper.
